The French-Norwegian symphonic metal band SIRENIA released their tenth studio album, Riddles, Ruins & Revelations, on Friday, February 12th, through Napalm Records. The 11-track album competently portrays the multifaceted nature of the band and offers a symphonic metal hurricane by combining heavy sounds with modern influences.
After releasing such a catchy first single "Addiction No. 1" in late 2020, and soon followed by the overwhelming "We Come To Ruins", the quartet around their longtime mentor, and band leader, the multi-instrumentalist, composer, songwriter and producer Morten Veland presently offers another surprising work and presents the third single, "Voyage Voyage", cover of the hit Desireless from 1986. With this track as a generous bonus in Riddles, Ruins & Revelations, SIRENIA again combines, if your sound skills were to be successfully expected, from the symphonic to the electronic vibrations, presenting a completely new facet to your ability, while remaining true to your roots. Presented in his native language, the lyrics fit perfectly for the French singer Emmanuelle Zoldan.
Mastermind Morten Veland in choosing “Voyage Voyage” for the album comments on the following:
"As our new album is influenced by the 80's to some extent, we thought it would be appropriate to make a cover version of that time and include it as a bonus track on the album. 'Voyage Voyage' by artist Desireless being my favourite song of that time decade and it was a extremely interesting song to cover. In terms of covers, I love finding songs from a completely different genre and then giving them the touch and sound of SIRENIA to them. It never made sense for me to do a cover version from a different rock or metal band, as the versions would end up very similar anyway."
At Riddles, Ruins & Revelations, SIRENIA remains as faithful to the album's theme as its remarkable dedication to sound inspirations, inspiring the listener into a compelling narrative about the darkest aspects of life. All eleven songs accumulate step by step in an integral sound work of art, where the versatile mezzo soprano voice of the talented singer Emmanuelle Zoldan always shines. In addition, there are many charming instrumental surprises lurking along the way. With the opening of "Addiction No. 1", attention turns to an immense and captivating melodic offering that will provide fans of bands like Beyond The Black and Amaranthe falling in love immediately. "We Come To Ruins" is directed to all the metalheads out there and it offers a striking contrast. With "Downwards Spiral", Emmanuelle is supported by the remarkable voice of longtime friend Joakim Naess on clean vocals, who joined the band on previous releases.
Most parts of Riddles, Ruins & Revelations were recorded at Audio Avenue Studios in Stavanger, Norway, and mixed and mastered entirely by Morten Veland himself.

Morten Veland statement:
"Riddles, Ruins & Revelations is SIRENIA's tenth studio album. The album is very diverse, as a SIRENIA album should be. There's a lot of material that shows the band from a new side, and there is lots of material that is to be expected from the band musically. All in all, the album will take the listeners through a journey that will cover both familiar and unexplored musical landscapes. We hope that you will enjoy the journey."
Pre-Order Riddles, Ruins & Revelations HERE:
As a reminder, in 2006 SIRENIA signed with NUCLEAR BLAST and released "Nine Destinies And A Downfall", which ended up sounding more powerful and heavy than its two predecessors - the album reached the control of the German media and gave the band access to a vaster audience. In November 2007, vocalist Monica Pederson departed from the band due to musical disagreements. The position was instantly occupied by the extraordinary and youthful Spanish vocalist Ailyn, and also a new guitarist, Michael S. Krumins. As it could be heard on the new album, "The 13th Floor", the new line up becomes the strongest and most powerful to date! But who could say better than the man behind it all? "Musically it is an album that transports us back in time, we tried to combine everything we did throughout SIRENIA's career musically and combined it into a huge album. A lot of energy combined with melodic aspects, with all the variations and diversities that has always been the main element of sound and expression of SIRENIA.
"We are very proud of the result, and we think that this album will satisfy most of our fans, those who followed us from the beginning and those who will discover Sirenia's music through our previous album "Nine Destinies and a Downfall." We put our hearts and souls on this album and we really hope that it will give you all some good moments in the name of metal. "- Morten Veland" The 13th Floor "is the logical continuation of what the band has done in recent years and will define."
Since 2015, Sirenia signs for Napalm Records with "The Seventh Life Path."
